A new Bocchi the Rock! anime film is on the way. Bocchi the Rock! Hoshi no Ashiato (roughly “Footprints of the Stars”) will open in Japan in 2027, the anime’s official X account and YouTube channel announced on November 1, along with a teaser trailer and teaser visual.

The film is a prequel set before Kessoku Band formed. It follows Nijika Ijichi and her older sister Seika, and the announcement calls it a story of “the sisters’ dream” that begins with “a parting.” It adapts the special chapter at the end of the manga’s fifth volume. Original creator Aki Hamaji said the story fills in the sisters’ past shown at the end of episode 8 of the TV anime and follows the path to the opening of STARRY, the live house Seika runs.

Shin Wakabayashi (Wonder Egg Priority) directs at CloverWorks. Erika Yoshida returns from the TV series to write the screenplay, and Yukiko Horiguchi (K-On!) designs the characters. Maaya Uchida voices Seika and Sayumi Suzushiro voices Nijika. No exact release date or further cast has been announced.

The staff also announced a Kessoku Band Asia tour starting in Osaka on March 13, 2027, with stops in Seoul and Hong Kong in May, and said the previously announced second TV season is in full production.
