Criminal Minds: Evolution to End With Season 20
Paramount+ is ending Criminal Minds: Evolution with Season 20, which airs in 2027 and won't have a planned series finale.

“Criminal Minds: Evolution” will end with its upcoming 20th season on Paramount+, Variety first reported. The final season does not have a premiere date yet but will air in 2027.
The long-running procedural ran for 15 seasons on CBS from 2005 to 2020 before Paramount+ revived it in 2022 under the “Evolution” title. Season 19 aired from May to July this year, and Paramount+ had handed the show an early Season 20 renewal in March. According to Deadline, Season 20 wrapped production earlier this fall, so it will not give fans a planned series finale.
Deadline also reports that this is the first official cancellation under Paramount+’s new leadership team, and that the show is currently in the streamer’s Top 10.
Showrunner Erica Messer said: “While suddenly navigating the end of this chapter, I’m filled with gratitude for our remarkable cast, writers, directors and crew who have poured their hearts into this show, and for the incredible fans around the world whose unwavering loyalty has kept ‘Criminal Minds’ going for two decades.”
The series stars Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler and RJ Hatanaka, with Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster. It follows the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit as it tracks down the country’s most dangerous criminals.
